4Motion4motion is a full time all-wheel-drive system requiring no driver input. 4motion uses a Haldex coupling and Electronic Differential Locks (EDL) to automatically direct engine power to the wheel or wheels with the most traction.

4Motion operates full-time to maximize acceleration and control in all driving conditions. There are no special levers, buttons, or hub locks for the driver to operate.

Benefits:
  • Exceptional traction, handling and stability
  • Preventative, pro-active system, not reactive
  • Superior all-weather performance
  • Every day peace of mind
  • Active safety and security
  • Full-time operation
  • No driver input required
Anti-lock Brake System
The Anti-lock Brake System, or ABS, is designed to help a driver maintain control of a vehicle during hard braking.

The ABS system responds to wheel lock-up during braking by alternately increasing and decreasing hy
draulic pressure in the brake lines of the affected wheel or wheels.

ABS is standard on all Volkswagen models.

Volkswagen's ABS is a four chan
nel system with a control module, and speed sensors at all four wheels. The hydraulic controls and ABS electronic control module are housed together as a single unit.

Benefits:
  • Helps maintain steering control under severe braking conditions
  • More effective braking under extreme road conditions
  • Greater driver confidence in all weather driving conditions
DSG - Direct Shift Gearbox

While the European market is mainly dominated by manual gearboxes, the preferred gearbox in the US and Japan is the automatic one. However, Volkswagen took the best of both worlds and created the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG).

The DSG meets the high standards of drivers of automatic and manual gearboxes such as:

-comfort
-driver control
-performance
-ease of use

Horsepower & Torque
  • Torque affects the ability of a vehicle to accelerate, whether from a standing stop or while moving, as  in passing
  • Horsepower helps determine the top speed of a vehicle in any given gear
  • Horsepower and torque outputs of Volkswagen engines are designed to provide a combination of excellent acceleration, fuel economy, and reduced exhaust emissions

Multi-Point Inspection
An inspection of your VW including, but not limited to:
  • Carpet, floor mats and mirrors
  • Windshield condition
  • Wiper blades
  • Battery terminal and cables
  • Engine drive belts
  • Engine hoses
  • Headlights, hazards, side and tail lamps
  • Shocks and struts
  • Engine air filter
  • Fluid levels
  • Pollen filter
  • Exhaust system
  • Front and rear brakes
  • CV boots and joints
  • Tire wear and tread

RecallsFederally regulated repairs, updates or inspections that never expire for the life of the vehicle. Some recalls or campaigns must be performed prior to re-registration through the DMV in the state of California. These are performed at no cost to you.

RVU

Required Vehicle Updates (RVU) are created to update certain components on select vehicles within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW) period. The NVLW period. The NVLW is 3 years or 36,000 miles whichever occurs first. At a point past the NVLW, RVU's are still recommended but would not be covered by any factory warranty and ultimately would be the responsibility of the driver of the vehicle.

Technical Bulletins

Information provided to the technicians to assist with the diagnostic and repair procedures for specific concerns. Also like an RVU are only covered during the NVLW period but are still recommended as needed.

TDI Engine

The fundamental difference between a gasoline engine and a diesel engine is that a gasoline engine uses
a spark from a spark plug to ignite the fuel mixture in each cylinder, while a diesel engine relies on the compression of the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber to start ignition.

Benefits:
Compared to equivalent gasoline engines, TDI offers...
  • 20 to 40% better fuel mileage
  • Up to 50% more torque
  • About 25% lower emissions
  • Three times the engine life
  • Similar noise levels
If only 15% of cars and trucks in North America were diesel-powered, more than 17 billion gallons of fuel would be saved over the vehicles' useful lives.

TiptronicThe 6-speed adaptive automatic transmission with Tiptronic allows drivers to easily switch between a fully automatic transmission and a manually shifted, but clutchless, gearbox.

Available on ALL Volkswagen Models.

Shift points are automatically regulated to provide three distinct operating characteristics:
  • Comfort driving for maximum fuel economy (shift points are kept low)
  • Average driving (shift points are raised slightly)
  • High-performance driving (shift points are increased to allow the engine to rev higher between gearshifts)
Benefits:
  • Adaptive, automatic shifting
  • Manual shifting without operating a clutch
  • Easy to choose between these two ways of shifting gears
  • Great when multiple drivers of the vehicle have different gear shifting preferences (manual versus automatic)
Turbocharged EnginesTurbochargers or "turbos" are compressors run by the exhaust gas pressure of an engine. They compress and force incoming air into the combustion chambers or cylinders thereby improving the "breathing" of an engine. This improved breathing results in better efficiency, more power and improved emissions.

Available: on GTI, GLI, Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Passat, CC, Eos and Tiguan.

Benefits:
  • Quick acceleration and high torque starting at low rpm
  • High horsepower at high rpm
  • Excellent fuel economy
  • Ultra Low emissions
